11 year old Shella lives with her younger brother, mother and father in a steel storage container in Pristina, Kosova. The government provided these ‘homes’ in 1999 for people displaced by the war.

They are very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer and many people living there are ill, including Shella’s father. Despite their difficult circumstances, both children are able to go to school. Shella is a star pupil and hopes to be an English teacher when she grows up. She was thrilled to receive a notepad and pens to help her practise her writing.
